Liability Coverage
If an accident occurs, liability coverage both financially and legally protects you, the driver operating the vehicle, if being sued for injuries or damages caused to third parties or their property. The two components of liability coverage are bodily injury and property damage.
Bodily Injury liability helps the at-fault driver with third-party injuries. That includes emergency, ongoing medical expenses, loss of income, and funeral costs. It also helps cover the insured’s legal fees in case of a lawsuit. Property Damage, however, helps cover the cost of damages caused to another person’s vehicle or property.
Comprehensive Coverage
Comprehensive insurance is optional but valuable protection outside of accidental coverages. It protects your car against damage not resulting from a collision or theft.
Comprehensive coverage covers a wide range of occurrences resulting from vandalism, fires, hail, water or flood damage, and damage from falling or flying objects that can damage your vehicle. It also helps pay to replace or repair your vehicle if it’s stolen or damaged in any other incident other than a collision.
Collision Coverage
Accidents happen, and, in some instances, you’ll be at fault. The best way to protect your investment in your vehicle or other objects is to get collision coverage.
Having collision protection on whether your owned or financed vehicle can give you the peace of mind. It helps protect your vehicle against the financial loss that comes with physical damage by either repair or replace your vehicle. Collision coverage includes a collision with another vehicle; your car while parked; a still object likes a tree, streetlight, fence; damage incurred by hitting a pothole on the road; and damage incurred by your car rolling over or falling into a ditch.
Collision coverage has a deductible and it’s required prior to the insurance company starts paying. A deductible tends to go in the opposite direction with the premium.
Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist (UIM) Coverage
Not every driver will be as responsible on the road as you. The irony is you cannot control their negligent driving habits. What you can control is your preparedness by adding Uninsured & Underinsured Motorist to your insurance policy. UIM will give you the assurance knowing that your medical expenses, lost wages, pain, and suffering, and future loss of earning potential will be covered.
UIM coverage provides insurance coverage to the policyholder for damages caused by the negligence of a driver of a vehicle that does not have insurance. UIM coverage also provides insurance coverage should the negligent driver’s insurance coverage be insufficient to pay for all the harm they cause.
Personal Injury Protection
Also known as PIP and no-fault coverage. PIP is mandatory, thus a critical coverage in the State of Florida if owned and operating a vehicle registered in the State.
Drivers get involved in car accidents every minute. Having PIP helps make sure that you’re covered. Personal Injury Protection covers medical expenses; wage loss coverage for you and your passengers after a car accident, regardless of fault; and even funeral expenses if the accident-related injury results in death.
Rental Reimbursement
If your car is being repaired or replaced due to an accident or theft, make sure you’re not left out of a vehicle while waiting. Your time, your work, and other daily activities are valuable. You want to ensure that you have the right coverage that will help you get back on the road when in need.
Rental Reimbursement coverage will pay for the cost of a rental car while your car is in the shop following an accident. In general, there’s no deductible but most insurers will allow a timeframe to cover your rental car. Benefits tend to be based on insurance policy and companies. That’s what Phanald IT is for.
Roadside Assistance & Towing
Only imagine yourself under that Florida Spring and Summer hot sun or heavy rain or even get stuck in the middle of nowhere at night due to a car accident or a car breakdown. Nobody’s exempted. Whether you have a new or a used car, anything can happen. Your best bet is to add roadside assistance and towing to your insurance policy.
Although optional, roadside assistance coverage is an advisable add-on to your policy. It helps drivers when their vehicles break down. The idea is to make the vehicle drivable to allow drivers to regain their normal daily activities. But if it fails to adjust the vehicle to be driven safely, it uses the towing service to get the vehicle to a mechanic up to a limited number of miles depending on the drivers towing package.
Medical Payments Coverage
Medical Payment Coverage pays for your medical expenses incurred whether you’re in your automobile or someone else if you’re hit by a car while walking or biking. It also helps pay for funeral expenses associated with the auto accident.
Medical payment coverage is an optional coverage, but it could save you money when/if involved in a car accident especially with the rising cost of health insurance and the out-of-pocket deductible that goes with it. The best thing about medical payment coverage, it always follows you. Which means, it doesn’t matter if you were in your car or someone else’s or bicycling when the accident happens, you’ll be covered.
